What Bishop Joseph Walker Says About Motivation

Motivation, being a central subject of study in Psychology, is defined as the factors in human beings that arouse direct and goal oriented behavior. Motivation can broadly be divided into two types, namely Internal or intrinsic motivation and external or extrinsic motivation. Instead of relying on any external pressure and working towards any external reward, motivation that is derived by converting a work itself into an enjoyable experience and an interesting thing is defined as intrinsic motivation or in other words it is an innate biological mechanism or an inner directing drive. On the other hand, external or extrinsic motivation refers to the performance of an activity in order to attain an outcome. For example, competition is considered to be extrinsic as it encourages a person to win, and gives him pleasure to move ahead by beating others.

Emotional intelligence or self control of motivation is extremely important to understand in this respect. According to a conservative definition a person may be highly intelligent but he may be unmotivated to dedicate his intelligence to perform various tasks. There are several ways to maximize motivation in oneself. Reading some motivational books written by renowned authors or watching certain movies can fill a person’s mind with positive energy, can help him to develop a positive perception of life and can make him learn to enjoy the journey of life. It should always be remembered that having brilliant dreams is definitely not a sin.

Employee Motivation is a term related to an organization where the workers should have something that can keep them moving.  Creating a positive environment filled with enthusiasm, constructive criticism instead of harsh threatening, making path for improvement, providing opportunities, performance incentives and concentrating on the ultimate goal are the ways how an organization can work in a better way.

Thinking about our anxieties and fear drains our motivation. So, having confidence and trust in oneself, developing tangible focus and directions are the most essential components in a motivational puzzle.
